INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE DAY

International Mother Language Day (February 21st) is observed to promote linguistic and cultural diversity, multilingualism, and the preservation of mother tongues, honoring the Bangladesh Language Movement where students protested for Bengali's official recognition in 1952, leading to UNESCO's proclamation in 1999. It highlights the importance of education in one's native language for better learning, stronger identity, and preserving cultural heritage.  International mother tongue day celebrated on 20th feb 2026 at Guru Nanak College of Education, Dalewal. On this occasion, essay writing competition was held by the teacher incharges of the students of B.Ed. in mother tongue punjabi. Ms. Pushpinder Kaur and Mr. Arun Kumar were acted as judges of competition.Positions of 1st, 2nd and 3rd were awarded to students at the end of competition and certificates were awarded to the students .
